To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the launch of the Mk1 Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac range in 1951, the club is planning a special Bathurst gathering in conjunction with our annual Memorial Weekend on 7–8 November. Inspired by Peter Barker’s visit to the Mk1 Buckingham Meet in the UK, the event will bring enthusiasts together for a memorable weekend of cars, friendship and sightseeing. Bathurst was chosen for its accessibility to members travelling from Victoria, NSW and Queensland, as well as the iconic Mount Panorama circuit and Motor Racing Museum, providing fantastic opportunities for convoy laps, photography and planned drone footage. Accommodation will be based at the Bathurst Motor Inn, with organised activities including Friday lunch at Harvest Café & Store, Saturday morning tea at Abercrombie House, lunch at the Beekeepers Inn and a private Saturday evening dinner at Bathurst RSL. Sunday will feature a 90-minute journey on the Zig Zag Railway with lunch. The weekend will combine organised activities with plenty of free time for members to explore attractions such as the Blue Mountains, Jenolan Caves, Katoomba and other historic sites, making this more than just a club gathering—it’s an opportunity to turn the 75th anniversary into a genuine motoring holiday.
